During summer we went on a boating adventure to one of my favourite spots, Tiritiri Matangi Island. Tiritiri Matangi is a wildlife sanctuary in the Hauraki Gulf. Walking around the island you’ll see and hear many kinds of birds amongst the dense forest that covers the island. Getting there didn’t take too long by boat, around 25 minutes (we launched at Little Waiake beach in Auckland). From the island you’ll be able to see Whangaparoa and Orewa. The weather was still warm when we went, so we swam at the beach there, and we were amazed at the clarity of the water. It was absolutely crystal clear. There’s plenty to see and do on the island – I’ll be back for another day trip as soon as the weather warms up!
